UCSF K2 Bargaining FAQs
What wages are we bargaining for?
1
We have proposed a retroactive 7% wage increase, effective March 1, 2026 and then an adjustment to 90% of the applicable Prevailing Wage (PW) in October of 2026, and each year thereafter. We have included a caveat that if any classification exceeds 90% of PW, the member will receive a 5% increase to base wages.
What is the justification for our wage proposal?
2
Our colleagues in the Skilled Trades at UC Berkeley already won 90% of PW. Like them, we are facing the increasing pressures of the affordability crisis. The costs of housing, childcare, transportation, and even food, are soaring. To recruit, retain, and sustain a highly skilled workforce, we must maintain wages that are competitive for our industry and area.
What else is being proposed?
3
Your Union negotiators have made proposals to increase: lead differential, boot allowance, increase on-call pay and convert it to a percentage instead of a flat dollar amount, expand our right to honor picket lines if conditions are unsafe, codify our first right of refusal to our work on any UCSF campus, and maintain existing benefit levels during the life of the new contract.
What happens when the contract extension expires at midnight on April 1, 2026?
4
The current terms and conditions of employment in the contract stay in place, except the no-strike/no-lockout provisions become null, giving us all available options to take action, as may be necessary and appropriate. UCSF has not made a single economic proposal, thus retroactivity on a wage increase is a gurantee of nothing, to date.
