With a New Name — ‘Farmworkers Day Festivities’ — Annual Labor Movement Events Are Reborn in San Francisco This Year
SAN FRANCISCO — For decades, the San Francisco community has come together once a year in early spring to honor the farmworker movement, celebrate Latino heritage, and uplift the spirit of justice and solidarity for working people — particularly immigrant workers.
Raising our voices in unified defiance, in healing, and in celebration is more important in 2026 than at any time in recent memory. On April 10 and 11, our grand tradition continues under a new name: Farmworkers Day Festivities.
This past year has been an extremely challenging one. Over 12 long months, the Latino community has faced unprecedented hate and violence from ICE specifically and the U.S. government in general. Then, earlier this month, the allegations against César Chávez came to light. This man, whose name has always graced the annual events, had suddenly become associated with pain and heartache.
So, as we head into this year’s celebrations, we do so under a new banner: Farmworkers Day Festivities. These festivities include the ¡Sí, Se Puede! Labor & Community Breakfast and the Dolores Huerta Day Parade & Festival. The new names honor the legacy of the movement while focusing on our community’s culture, collective action, and solidarity, which have always been at the heart of these events.
The ¡Sí, Se Puede! Breakfast — a yearly event that brings people together to rejoice in worker power, community camaraderie, and great food — will be held on Friday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the ILWU Local 10 Hall at 400 North Point Street in San Francisco. (Learn more about the breakfast and how to become a sponsor at here.)
Then, the following day on Saturday, April 11, the Dolores Huerta Day Parade & Festival kicks off in Dolores Park at 11 a.m., with the parade route beginning at 19th and Guerrero streets and being led by Los Danzantes, who will bring their traditional Mexican–indigenous folk dancing to the streets of the Mission. All are welcome to march and to party after the parade, when the fun continues at the festival’s home base at 24th Street between Folsom and Bryant until 6 p.m.
We need your support to continue making these festivities happen. Please consider doing more than just showing up this year.
